In a significant cabinet reshuffle, President William Ruto has reassigned key positions within his administration. Notably, CS Aden Duale has been moved to the Ministry of Health, while Deborah Barasa has been transferred to the Ministry of Environment. Additionally, Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku has been nominated to take over the Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes docket, replacing former Attorney General Justin Muturi.
On March 26, 2025, President William Ruto dismissed Justin Muturi from his role as Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development. This decision followed public criticism from President Ruto, who labeled Muturi as "fairly incompetent" during his tenure as Attorney General, specifically citing delays in establishing the Muslim Endowment Fund (Waqf).
In response, Muturi defended his record, highlighting accomplishments such as issuing 708 legal advisories on bilateral and international law matters and saving the government KSh17.5 billion through successful court defenses.
The dismissal also comes amid reports of tensions between Muturi and the administration, including his criticism of the government's handling of abductions and extrajudicial killings.
